This report surfaced last week, that the Bayern Munich player and Colombian International, James Rodriguez could be on his way to MLS, as early as 2018.
This is following on from the fact that he is out of favour at Bayern, with Carlo Ancelotti being sacked and also at Real Madrid, as it is seen that he is not in Zinedine Zidane’s plans either.
This would be a surprising move for Rodriguez, as he is still only 26 and is still one of the top players in Europe – much too soon to be thinking about leaving Europe. The Rumour is though, that the Colombian could be set to follow Gio dos Santos and Sebastian Giovinco and be a replacement for either the departing, Kaka at Orlando City SC or David Villa at New York City FC.
THE HISTORY
Rodriguez linked up with Porto in 2010 having been transferred from Banfield, Rodriguez would score 25 goals in 63 appearances for FC Porto
From FC Porto for the 2013/14 season, he would move to AS Monaco in Ligue 1, scoring 11 goals in 34 appearances for the principality.
After making a big impression at the Confederations Cup in 2013, James Rodriguez would make his big money move to Real Madrid in 2014 – where it was expected he would become a World Superstar.
But he struggled to establish himself under Zidane, featuring just 77 times over the course of three seasons in the league, thus the loan move this Summer to Bayern and Ancelotti – which itself hasn’t gone too well.
The midfielder has represented Colombia at Under 17 and Under 20, scoring six goals in 11 outings, and made his senior debut against Bolivia in October 2011.
He has turned out 59 times for his country, a grand total of 21 goals so far, and was named the winner of the FIFA Puskas Award for his amazing volley goal against Brazil in the 2014 World Cup.
THE PROSPECTS
The Prospects for James Rodriguez are dependant on if his move to the MLS comes to pass.
This is more a wait and see with Rodriguez and his supposed transfer to either New York City FC to replace David Villa departing this winter or Kaka at Orlando City, doing the same.
His price point in the MLS Fantasy game will also be of interest too, to those interested in taking a chance on the Colombian International.
