This report claims that Michael Ciani has signed for Los Angeles Galaxy, with the 33 year old ready to replace outgoing Jelle van Damme in the LA Galaxy defence next season.
This report states that LA Galaxy may have had an underwhelming 2016 MLS campaign, but have already started to build for the future. The 6’4 defender arrives in LA on an undisclosed contract length from Lazio.
LA Galaxy manager Pete Vagenas was quoted as saying:
“We targeted and acquired Michael as a player who can immediately strengthen our backline,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Pete Vagenas. “He is a valuable signing that will be an important piece of our roster. We are happy to add him to our team and look forward to him joining the squad next week.”Ciani spent the majority of his career playing in Ligue 1, France’s top-flight division, where he made over 200 appearances, including over 100 appearances each for FC Lorient and FC Bordeaux. In addition to Lorient and Bordeaux, Ciani has represented SS Lazio in Italy, RSC Charleroi in Belgium and RCD Espanyol in Spain and has played in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League. Internationally, he has also played for various French youth teams and has appeared on the senior France National Team.“Michael is a strong, smart and talented player that we think can quickly integrate into our locker room and adapt to our league,” said LA Galaxy Head Coach Sigi Schmid. “He has spent time playing at the highest level during his career and his experience will be an asset to our team on and off the field.”
THE HISTORY
Ciani started his career with Racing Paris in 2001 moving up from the Racing Paris Academy, Ciani would score zero goals in one appearance for Racing Paris.
From Racing Paris Ciani would move on and have spells with Charleroi, Auxerre and Sedan, before settling in France for the best six seasons of his playing career with Lorient and Bordeaux.
Over the course of six seasons, three with Lorient and three with Bordeaux. Michael Ciani would make 98 appearance scoring 5 goals for Lorient and 91 appearances, scoring 6 goals for Bordeaux.
On 2 September 2017, Ciani was signed by MLS club LA Galaxy after a stint in free agency..

This move has come to pass, as Los Angeles Galaxy are going to be bolstering their side over the coming weeks and months in time for the new season.
Michael Ciani has been brought in to bolster the LA Galaxy defence, after what was a very forgettable 2016 campaign – in which the Galaxy finished rock bottom of the Western Conference.
