Moving Target - Yura Movsisyan

After agreeing to bring him back Yura Movsisyan to Real Salt Lake in January 2016, Real Salt Lake signed the Armenian on a permanent deal following his 2016 loan from Spartak Moscow.

The 29-year-old is currently the centerpiece of the RSL attack, but recently there has been a lot of friction between Movsisyan and the Claret and Cobalt Head Coach Mike Petke after publicly complained about his playing time during a spell on the bench in May.
“To his credit, in the conversation I had with Yura about not starting today, I told him there’s nothing more that I would want than for you to come off the bench and score and for you to come into the office the next day and tell me ‘Go you-know-what-yourself. I told you so.’ I would want nothing more,” Petke said.
“I hope he comes in tomorrow, slams the door, and tells me.”.

THE HISTORY

Movsisyan' footballing journey began at the Pasadena Lancers in California, before he started his professional career at with Sporting Kansas City, formerly Kansas City Wizards.
He then joined Real Salt Lake for the 2007 MLS campaign, spending two seasons with the Claret and Cobalt expansion side.
The striker enjoyed a successful two year stint at the club, scoring 15 goals in 53 matches in all competitions.
In 2010, Movsisyan joined Danish side Randers, before moving onto Russia, first with Krasnodar and then with Spartak Moscow, this was where is career really took off.
He registered 48 goals in 80 matches in all competitions, in his time with the two Russian outfits, thus earning himself, first a loan move back to Real Salt Lake, before inking a permanent deal.
But the Armenian has struggled to establish himself at the Rio Tinto Stadium and only managed 16 goals from 57 league outings over two seasons.
Movsisyan made his international debut for Armenia against Iran in August 2010 and has scored 10 goals in 35 appearances for his country.

THE PROSPECTS

While Movsisyan’ first stint in Salt Lake was a resounding success, it’s the fact he hasn't been as a consistent goal-scorer for RSL in his second stint with the Club.
A powerful centre forward, Movsisyan looks at his best when starting week-in-week-out to build up his sharpness.
Capable of holding off defenders to maintain possession for his side, the Armenian is adept at linking with team-mates and possesses a powerful shot.
He is also strong in the air, and if he can possibly return to the levels reached during his first spell at the Rio Tinto, he could be the ideal man to lead the line with another MLS Club.
It has been touted over the last number of weeks, with Yura Movsisyan possibly been frozen out by the Club, a move to another MLS expansion side looks on the cards for the Armenian.
He looks at home in the USA, has a family in Los Angeles and holds American citizenship. Where would be Yura's most likely destination. Perhaps, back to LA with the new expansion side Los Angeles FC. Could be an ideal place for the Armenian to rekindle his career and score those Fantasy points.
