Scout Report - Carlos Vela

Carlos Vela is Los Angeles FC, first ever signing and is their first Designated Player for their inaugural MLS campaign in 2018.

On 8 August 2017, Real Sociedad announced an agreement with Major League Soccer for Vela to move to the league in January 2018. He later announced via social media that he will join Los Angeles FC.
The Mexican is still young, just like Giovani dos Santos, Jonathan dos Santos, both playing for Los Angeles side "The Galaxy" and Sebastian Giovinco currently playing for the highest points regular season scorers Toronto FC in the Eastern Conference.

THE HISTORY

Vela made his debut for Arsenal in 2005 having progressed from the Arsenal youth Academy. Vela would score 3 goals in 29 appearances for "The Gunners".

From Arsenal for the 2012/13 season, he would move to Real Sociedad in La Liga, having his most successful period between 2012 - 2017, in 171 games, he would score 53 goals.

Carlos Vela represented Mexico at under 17, under 20 before moving onto the first team.  On 18 October 2007, he scored his first senior international goal for Mexico in a friendly against Guatemala in Los Angeles.

On 21 September 2010, the Mexican Football Federation announced that Vela and teammate Efraín Juárez would be suspended from the Mexico national team for six months for their involvement in a party on 7 September in Monterrey following a game with Colombia. Vela and 12 other players were also fined 50,000 Mexican pesos (approximately US $3,953 as of 24 September 2010), used to help the flood victims in the Mexican state of Veracruz.

In November 2014, after a three-year absence, Vela accepted a call up to the national team for the friendly matches against the Netherlands and Belarus. He scored twice on his return as Mexico defeated the Dutch 3–2 at the Amsterdam Arena on 12 November.

THE PROSPECTS

The Prospects for Carlos Vela look good in both MLS and MLS Fantasy next season, because he is LAFC's first of three Designated Player's which means that he is almost guaranteed to play each week.

In terms of MLS Fantasy price next season, Carlos Vela's, you would presume to be in the upward trajectory. Possibly around the $10.0 mark. With LAFC making their debut this season though, it will surely be a "wait and see" with Carlos Vela and the rest of the LAFC squad before taking a chance on any of them.
